THE CRIME CLINIC Dr. Matthew Thorne is a renowned doctor who has started working with criminals, giving them advice and helping them on their crimes. These activities attract the attention of Batman and Robin, who find Thorne's hideout using Batman's new gadget: a tracer. Batman and Robin confront Thorne, but when an injured man enters the clinic, Batman and Thorne work together to save the man. However, in the aftermath, Thorne turns against the Dynamic Duo, leaving them tied up, while he and his assistant get on their way to steal a valuable formula designed to change the atomic order of objects. Thorne then heads for the site of the Eastington Atom Smasher, where he plans to use the formula to change base metal into solid gold. In the interim, however, Batman and Robin have escaped from their bonds, and, after a brief battle at the atom smasher, they take Dr. Thorne and his assistant into custody.
